Abstract

Airborne logistics delivery provides an operational alternative when disaster- or conflict-affected areas cannot be adequately reached through conventional ground-based distribution. Selecting an appropriate dropping method constitutes a multi-criteria decision problem because equipment availability, payload capability, and operational cost may lead to conflicting preferences. This study aims to determine the priority between airdrop and free drop and to evaluate the stability of the resulting decision under changes in criterion importance. A quantitative descriptive approach based on the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) was employed. Pairwise-comparison judgments were obtained from seven personnel of Yonbekang 5/Akaca Rata Yudha and aggregated using the geometric mean. The decision hierarchy consisted of availability, payload capacity, and operational cost. AHP produced criterion weights of 0.458, 0.447, and 0.094, respectively, with a Consistency Ratio of 0.006. The global synthesis generated priorities of 0.634 for airdrop and 0.366 for free drop. One-way sensitivity analysis with proportional redistribution of the remaining criteria showed that airdrop retained its priority while payload-capacity weight remained above approximately 0.151, operational-cost weight remained below approximately 0.403, and availability weight remained below approximately 0.904. These findings indicate that the airdrop priority is relatively stable under moderate preference changes but may reverse when operational cost becomes substantially more important or payload capacity becomes considerably less important. The study demonstrates that AHP can support not only alternative ranking but also the identification of decision mechanisms and preference thresholds associated with rank reversal.
